Course summary
The business environment is changing all the time. While you can’t predict the future, you can certainly be prepared for it. Organisations need flexible employees with a range of skills, who understand the different areas of business and how they work together. The BA (Hons) Business Management will give you a well-rounded business education to make you a versatile and employable graduate. By studying Business Management you will get a full overview of how businesses perform, meaning you can adapt and succeed in a competitive jobs market. There are compulsory modules that cover essential topics such as marketing, how to manage people, purchasing and logistics. As you progress, you can choose specialist modules in areas that match your interests and career aims. There are also many opportunities to gain practical experience of the business world, including work placements, hands-on challenges, a year-long sandwich placement or an internship. The BA (Hons) Business Management is also available as a four year course including an integrated Foundation Year, and is designed for students who do not currently meet admissions criteria for direct entry onto the degree. You will start by completing a foundation year, which provides well structured support, allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge before continuing onto the three year degree programme. Please note: The integrated foundation year will be studied in Treforest.
Modules
Throughout your Business Management course you will study a mix of management, enterprise, economics, marketing, logistics and human resource management modules. You will develop the skills demanded by today’s employers. Year One In your first year, you will study the following specified modules: •Business Skills and Professional Development •Work and Organisational Behaviour •Economics, Law and Regulations •Foundations in Marketing •Accounting in a Business Context •Supply Chain Management Year Two In your second year you will choose one of two pathways to follow. The first pathway allows you to study six modules classroom-led for the full academic year. The second pathway allows you to study six modules from September to December class-room led and then an internship from January through to April. Modules available to study on both pathways are: •Business Planning, Implementation and Growth •Environmental Analysis •Quantitative Techniques in Business •Digital Context •Research Methods One module from the following options: •Managing Projects and Operations •Developing Talent for Success •Brands and Consumer Lifestyles •Bricks, Clicks and Omni Channel Retailing Year Three Going into your final year you will study the following modules: •Business Strategy •International Business •Leadership and Management Development •Professional Practice and Employability •Dissertation (double module) If you undertake the internship you will substitute the Professional Practice and Employability module for one of the following options: •Employee Engagement •Supply Chain Management Risk and Sustainability •Public Relations and Reputation Management •Local Global Interaction •Ethics and Sustainability: Theory and Practice •New Venture Management and Development The BA (Hons) Business Management is also available as a four year course including an integrated Foundation Year, and is designed for students who do not currently meet admissions criteria for direct entry onto the degree. GCSEs: The University normally requires a minimum 3 GCSEs including Mathematics and English at Grade C or above, or their equivalent but consideration is given to individual circumstances.
