This exciting programme will prepare students for a management career in the International Travel and Tourism industry. The School is an ABTA education partner and the programme has been designed with a strong management and international focus for students to gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the Tourism and Travel industry helping to create distinctive global graduates with cutting-edge guest service skills.
Year 1 provides an introduction and foundations to key issues, and development of vital skills within the travel, tourism and guest service industries globally and this is complemented by the study of core business disciplines in management and marketing. Year 2 has at its core an assessed placement and a focus on developing professional skills for the International Industry ensuring that all students have the opportunity to develop skills and experience. Year 3 develops the students’ knowledge and understanding by applying issues to specialist modules within a strategic framework. The students select either a Dissertation, or Consultancy Project and a Global Student Conference which critically considers the themes of global contemporary issues through International field study research.
The programme will be assessed through a structured mix of assessments which will include assignments, essays, planning and organising trips, management reports, debates, industry presentations and field study work as well as development records, exams, reviews, DVDs and blogs. Assessments will, wherever possible, develop employability skills as well as aiming to support the development of critical thinking, managing ICT, communication, numeracy, problem solving, interacting in teams, critical appraisal, self-management and leadership.

In choosing to study at university you are making a considerable investment in your future and it is a decision that we take seriously. We will make every effort to ensure that your experience as a student here will help you to develop your potential to the full. We will provide you with sound academic knowledge, but we also believe that the rich diversity of cultural and social experiences that you will have as a student here will help you develop a range of personal and professional qualities as we believe that these are both equally important considerations when choosing a university.
The student satisfaction data is from students surveyed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of student respondents and response rates can be important in interpreting the data – it is important to note your experience may be different from theirs. This data will be based on the subject area rather than the specific course. Read more about this data on the Discover Uni website.
