Course summary
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offer an understanding of the biological and chemical processes that allow life to thrive, giving us the tools we need to solve key challenges in cell biology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, and genetics. Advances in these fields have revolutionised our knowledge of how biological systems work at the molecular level and the mechanisms that underpin a wide range of cellular processes. This enables us to respond to a range of human health problems and diseases through interventions at the molecular and biochemical level.
Assessment method
The MSc is awarded based on the quality of the student’s thesis and ability to present and successfully defend their chosen research topic in an oral examination (viva voce). They are also expected to demonstrate how their research findings have contributed to knowledge or developed existing theory or understanding.
