Part of everyday life, chemistry is vital for tackling the world’s most urgent problems - from green technologies to developing new treatments to keep us healthy. This accredited, four-year degree includes a 9-12 month placement overseas during year three, giving you the opportunity to broaden your horizons working in a different culture and develop your professional skills. Designed to give you a solid grounding in the fundamentals of chemistry with an emphasis on research, the first two years of the course will focus on developing your understanding of how chemistry shapes our world. During the third and fourth years, there is a greater emphasis on analysis, synthesis and problem-solving. In the fourth and final year, you’ll undertake an extended research project, based within one of our academic research groups. You will also gain vital, practical experience in the lab, enhancing your research, mathematical and computational skills. Graduates are eligible for full membership to the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and may apply for the title of Chartered Chemist. The University reserves the right to increase tuition fees in the second and subsequent years of a course as permitted by law or Welsh Government policy. Where applicable we will notify you of any change in tuition fee by the end of June in the academic year before the one in which the fee will increase.
Fees for entry in subsequent years are subject to increase and will be confirmed by the end of October in the year preceding your start date of your programme.
Tuition fees cover all reasonable costs required for you to complete to the degree programme stated. Please note that you may choose to participate in study trips, associated placements or purchase equipment while studying on your degree programme which will be at your own cost.
