Course summary

The BA (Hons) Top Up in Community, Public Health & Social Care is designed to develop the skills necessary to work in industry. Through the specialist units this course will develop learners' skills and understanding of health and social care settings, community and related theoretical concepts, outlining the importance of social policy, community engagement, contemporary issues and working within organisations. The need for effective research skills applicable to the sector are included which will provide learners with a wide range of skills they need to find, or progress in employment, or progress to further study. This course is designed to challenge and encourage students to ask questions of themselves and their role and deepen their understanding of the sector.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

This is a level 6 entry programme and applicants will normally be expected to have 240 academic credits, of which 120 must be at level 5. These are expected to be from either a Foundation Degree in Community, Health and Wellbeing, a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or HND in a relevant area including a range of modules in line with the overall ethos of the Community, Health and Wellbeing programme. In addition, we will be looking for evidence of personal skills and qualities, as detailed in the third section, through the personal statement and references. Applicants with other qualifications and backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. Qualifications and experiences not specifically named in this document will be carefully considered. Offers will be made to students on the basis of both their academic qualifications and an interview.
