Course summary

Gain the leadership skills and open the door to new career possibilities in the fields of housing, urban and neighbourhood management and community planning. This practical, short course will help you on your way to becoming a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). You will engage in place shaping, economic development, public service delivery and the governance of urban areas. As part of your course you’ll:

  • Use real-life case studies to examine current issues affecting housing and regeneration and learn how to tackle them
  • Take part in group and individual projects to build on your current experience

Entry requirements

Applicants should either have at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in the cognate subject of housing, health, geography, planning, social sciences or a professionally orientated subject of teaching, environmental health or community work or similarly related subject; or at least a 2nd Class Honours degree in a non-cognate subject with knowledge of housing, or significant practical work experience of housing, planning, and community development, or professional practice relating to the built environment and neighbourhood well-being. Non-standard entry may require intervention by the course team; an interview or to write an essay. All applications should be supported by a reference, either academic or professional. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent.
