Course summary
As of September 2023, this course will change from a Bachelor of Arts (BA) to a Bachelor of Science (BSc) to better reflect the quantitative and analytical nature of the course. There is no change to the course content. This flexible course will provide you with a solid grounding in economic theory, as well as the tools and techniques of business. You’ll understand key concepts underpinning economics analysis, and use these to critically analyse business decision making. You will be able to understand how economic analysis is applied to public and private organisations, as well as engaging critically with economic policy. You will make sense of a range of important issues affecting our everyday lives and improve your decision-making skills in ways that are relevant to the discipline of Economics. You will learn about the industry and regulatory contexts surrounding decision making as well as developing crucial employment skills. As an Economics student, you’ll have access to our unique Business Lab facility. With 12 double-screen workstations, the room gives you a simulated experience of working in the fast-moving world of shares and trading. You can access sophisticated analysis tools and Bloomberg Terminal data on worldwide financial markets. Nottingham Business School at NTU is EQUIS and AACSB accredited and ranked in the Top 25 in the UK for Economics according to the Guardian University Guide 2022. Nottingham Business School enrols its economics students with The Society of Professional Economists (SPE).
