Course summary
Nursing at the University of Wolverhampton provides exciting, challenging opportunities to work with people, providing care across a range of diverse health and social care settings. It is a demanding vocation which requires hard work, commitment, the ability to problem solve, work independently and contribute to care as part of a team. Our nursing course adopts a person centred approach to enable you to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to provide safe and effective nursing care. It will enable you, if successful, to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to practise as a registered mental health nurse in a variety of care settings. It will educate you to a high clinical, professional and academic standard ready to practice in the 21st century, to meet the needs of people who may be experiencing mental health difficulties. This course will build and develop your knowledge and skills as a practitioner working with people in a variety of settings working in partnership with service users and carers. The management and organisation of service provision is constantly changing and developing in line with health and social care policy. In your role as a registered nurse you will be involved with these developments working with other professionals towards continuous service improvements.

Provide evidence of GCSEs at grade C+ /4 in an English-based subject and Maths or equivalent qualifications (e.g. Key Skills Level 2/ Learn Direct Level 2/ Functional Skills Level 2). Successful completion of the Foundation Year (120 credits) (commenced prior to September 2020) of either BSc (Hons) Health Studies with Foundation Year; BSc (Hons) Public Health with Foundation Year or BA (Hons) Social Care with Foundation Year will enable you to apply for this course. You will also require GCSE grade C/4+ in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent qualifications) You will be guaranteed the first stage of the selection process e.g. test/interview opportunity. If you are a UK student enrolling on a full-time Foundation Degree or a Bachelor degree programme at the University of Wolverhampton in 2023/4, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s fee requirements).
