Course summary

The University of Stirling and Edinburgh Heriot-Watt University will be offering a collaborative programme in BSc (Hons) Chemistry and Professional Education. Students follow the same Professional Education path as others at Stirling but attend Chemistry lectures and seminars at Heriot-Watt's campus. The BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Professional Education is a 4-year programme of study that is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Chemistry teaching at the secondary school level. This programme of study works in the same way as other combined degrees at the University of Stirling: on graduation and successful completion of the ITE programme students are able to commence their induction year in schools and register with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

Students from the rest of the UK can apply for financial assistance, including a loan to cover the full cost of the tuition fees, from the Student Loans Company. Students from England, Northern Ireland and Wales who successfully progress to their fourth year of study at Stirling will be awarded an Honours Year Scholarship covering the full cost of the tuition fees in their final year.
