By studying with us, you will embrace new innovations that will prepare you to support the development of a sustainable society. The University is currently reviewing this course internally and there may be changes to its contents for 2024/25. On this course, accredited by both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB), you will learn from building surveying experts with considerable practical experience, and develop your problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Benefit from our strong industry links by attending visiting lecturer talks and site visits, working on case studies and gaining work experience so you’re prepared for employment. The skills we teach have helped our graduates secure roles with companies including Faithful+Gould. Our excellent relationships with employers mean that you can undertake a work placement, helping you gain real insight about the work of building surveyors and make valuable professional contacts. Professional Placement Year This course offers a professional placement year. This allows you to spend a whole year with an employer, between the second and third years of your degree, and is a great way to find out more about your chosen career. Some students even return to the same employers after completing their studies. The University will draw on its extensive network of local, regional and national employers to support you in finding a suitable placement to complement your chosen area of study. If you do not find a suitable placement, you will be automatically transferred back to the standard, non-placement version of the course. Please note that fees are payable during your placement year. For details, visit the course page on the Birmingham City University website.
