Course summary
Our foundation degrees are equivalent to studying the first two years of an honour’s degree, but unlike traditional degrees they have more flexible entry requirements. Created in collaboration with employers, they combine academic study with developing the skills and attributes needed in the workplace. It makes them ideal preparation for a specific profession or industry or for making progress in your existing career. You can always convert to a full honours degree by taking a Level 6 programme on completion. If you want to be one of the creative individuals who make events fully immersive experiences then this is the course for you. This exciting foundation degree in Live Events Production gives you the opportunity to develop your technical and creative skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. This comprehensive two-year programme guides you through every aspect of live events including sound, light, AV, film-editing, scenic design, rigging and live event/stage management. With a range of placement and vocational experiences bound into the programme you will have varied opportunities to apply your skills in a range of working contexts. Year one has a clear focus on technical skills development with the additional opportunity to apply your skills within the context of a touring event. Year two aims to develop your operational knowledge with the additional opportunity of embarking on a final major project which can be used to facilitate progression into employment or further study. The programme is situated at UCWISE meaning there are multiple opportunities to develop production skills in a variety of professional contexts. The Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) hosts over 30 productions each year and the excellent sporting facilities are home to 14 Academies which have over 100 fixtures each academic year. In addition to this there will be opportunities to provide production support to a range of professional events including community forums and conferences such as Ambitions or Next Steps, business conferences, local festivals, award celebrations and sporting events. These will all support you to establish a professional network which will aid career progression. Part time routes are available. For more information, please email [email protected]
