Course summary

The programme evaluates the underpinning areas of engineering, processes, systems and technology with an emphasis on mechatronics, including various branches of science and mathematics. It is designed to provide students who are seeking to further their career in a range of mechatronics systems or robotics industries. The HNC provides students who have completed a BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline with a thorough understanding of eight further engineering subjects. On completion of the HNC in Engineering (Mechatronics Pathway), students can progress to the HND in General Engineering (Mechatronics Pathway) subject to grade achieved overall at HNC. For the Engineering (Mechatronics Pathway), students take the four mandatory core units, and an additional four optional units.
