Course summary

This programme is delivered in state-of-the-art music and performance facilities featuring three recording studios, five control rooms and a live performance theatre. Students have access to all our facilities and can book studios and music laboratories out during college hours, 7 days a week. The programme utilises industry-standard hardware and software, our tutors and technical staff have extensive industry experience and current links to industry. We are an Avid (Pro Tools) Authorised Learning Partner. Authorised Learning Partner status also ensures that all workstations and recording studios are running the latest version of Pro Tools|Ultimate to ensure students are taught on the most up to date software with the latest features available to professionals in the audio, music and post-production industries. Studios are equipped with industry standard Avid Pro Tools HDX systems (MacPro hosted) and Avid S6 and C|24 control surfaces offering 256 simultaneous audio tracks at 96 kHz and incredibly low monitoring latency of 0.7 ms. Studios offer Pro Tools HD, Ableton Live Suite, a host of 3rd Party Plug-in Processors by brands such as McDSP, Sonnox, Slate Digital, Celemony and iZotope, as well as Genelec and PMC monitoring. Students also have the opportunity to complete industry recognised Avid User Certification (101 and 110) certification with further User Certification (130) and Operator Certification (201, 210M and 210P) offered also.

Assessment method

You will be assessed through a range of audio and music-related media, written assignments, reports, individual and group presentations and live demonstrations.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
