Course summary
If you have a passion for physics this course will provide the theory and practical experience needed to understand important physical phenomena. Classes cover diverse topics such as particle physics, climate change and quantum information, while in the laboratory you will perform experiments to investigate quantum behaviour, understand atomic processes and measure the Earth’s magnetic field. You will learn from academic experts in areas such as nanostructured devices, renewable energy and soft matter. You will also have the possibility of a placement year undertaking research in a company or national physics laboratory. The course is recognised by the Institute of Physics (IOP), a quality standard to reassure you that you are studying on the best degree. The IOP estimates that, on average, physics graduates earn £3,000 more than graduates from other subjects; this is because physics is rooted in problemsolving, something that employers will always require.
