Our Master’s degree in Advanced Practice in Health Care is designed for experienced healthcare practitioners who want to consolidate their skills and develop to an advanced level. You will develop enhanced assessment, diagnostic and disease management skills and have the opportunity to carry out studies for non-medical prescribing. Throughout your studies, you will refine critical research and analytical skills in relation to clinical practice and develop professional reflective practice techniques. Modules may include: Foundations in Research; Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Skills; Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology for Advanced Clinical Practice; Advanced Practice and Education; Advanced Practice: Management and Leadership; Clinical Diagnosis and Patient Management for Advanced Practice.

Assessment method

We assess your learning using a variety of methods including essays, presentations and objective structured clinical examinations. The assessment for each module must be successfully completed.


Entry requirements

Prior to applying for this course you need to discuss whether your employers are willing to support your application. Acceptance on to the course is made collaboratively between the University and your employer and all applicants will be interviewed in conjunction with their respective health board. To apply for this course you need to be qualified for a minimum of three years and have a 2.2 degree or its equivalent in a relevant subject. You may be able to enrol without an initial degree and /or may be required to undertake pre-requisite studies at level 6. This prerequisite study ensures that you have adequate academic skills for Master’s level study and could be used towards getting a first level degree.
