Course summary

Studying a Master’s degree in Childhood Studies will give you the knowledge and skills to support children and their families in a range of environments. You will develop a keen understanding of issues related to child development in contemporary society and how policy and services for children and families are planned and provided. Assessment method

Students are assessed throughout their coursework (e.g. written assignments such as research projects, child observations and essays and seminar presentations) and a dissertation of approximately 20,000 words.


Entry requirements

Applicants normally require a UK 2.2 (or above) degree in a related discipline (for example childhood studies, education, psychology, sociology, mental health), or its equivalent. Applications are considered for candidates with significant relevant work experience. Applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (previously known as a Criminal Records Bureau, or CRB, Check). Applicants may be asked to attend an interview. International applicants: - English language requirements are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in all domains, or a University approved equivalent, prior to starting the programme. - A DBS check or an approved University equivalent
