Course summary

This course equips you with advanced knowledge and practical skills for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries from sport and physical activity. You'll study musculoskeletal injuries, therapeutic techniques, and exercise rehabilitation skills, underpinned by a foundation in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and psychology. Through clinical placements, supervised by registered healthcare or medical professionals, you'll gain hands-on experience in providing effective care for injuries, illness, and disease, either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Accredited by the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT), this programme prepares you for BASRaT membership, offering valuable industry insights. Additionally, we offer exchange programmes, including two semester-long options in the USA, where you can undertake a similar study programme and a professional baseball internship. Please note that these exchanges are subject to availability and may not be available to all students.

Modules

• Year one: Foundation Human Form and Function, Foundation Therapy Skills, Foundation Exercise and Conditioning, Applied Human Form and Function, Intermediate Therapy Skills, and Applied Exercise and Conditioning. • Year two: Professional Practice 1, Applied Therapy and Rehabilitation Skills, Advanced Exercise and Conditioning, and Evidence-based Practice in Sport Rehabilitation. • Year three: Professional Practice 2, Advanced Therapy Skills, and Applied Research in Sport Rehabilitation.

Assessment method

Assessment methods include exams on theory, exams on practical work and clinical assessments, essays, projects, and presentations.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or 4 (or above) required. Must include English Language, Mathematics and a Science. UK Equivalencies (such as Key Skills/ Functional Skills level 2 Numeracy/ Literacy) are accepted. Applicants with non UK qualifications will need to meet the minimum GCSE requirements with a satisfactory GCSE equivalent qualification.
