Course summary
The Department of Classics and Ancient History offers the opportunity to carry out postgraduate research in a distinctively wide range of areas, from all the major civilisations of the ancient Mediterranean, to all periods of classical antiquity. We offer two options for postgraduate research, whether you are looking to complete your academic studies with a PhD or to pursue an MA by Research following an undergraduate degree a related field Relevant taught modules may be attended by arrangement to develop appropriate research skills; this includes the study of ancient languages. Subject to programme requirements and the approval of your supervisor, you can access training in: • Greek • Latin • Ancient Egyptian
Entry requirements
Applicants for a PhD will also need to hold a Masters qualification at Merit level or above (or its international equivalent), usually in a relevant area.
