Is chocolate good for you? How are fireworks made? Why is blood red? Can you drink sea water? If you find yourself asking questions like these and have an interest in Science, this course could be the one for you. The main aims of the course are to develop knowledge and understanding of scientific theories and practices, whilst developing the skills needed to be able to apply them in different science related contexts. This course is supported by focused study in key areas of Biology and Chemistry and the units cover a range of topics to allow you to gain a grounding of the key concepts required for further study in a range of Science disciplines. The course has a significant practical element, which will allow you to develop your analytical, numerical and technical skills that are valued by employers in the field of Applied Biology. This will provide opportunities for career advancement within the sector. The HNC Applied Science is delivered largely through combined lectures/seminars, workshops and tutorial sessions.
