Course summary
The Access to HE department has a long history of promoting academic skills and preparing students for higher education. This level 4 HNC in Applied Science (Biology) will allow students to progress onto a range of HE courses related to biological and biomedical sciences, but also allow students to progress to employment. The course is run from our Centre of Excellence for Medical Sciences City Labs campus located on Oxford Road in Manchester. Students will develop practical lab skills as well as building their academic skills and profile in subjects such as data handling, anatomy and physiology and biochemistry. The course spans one year, after which there may be the opportunity to progress to level 5 courses such as HND Applied Science, or employment.
Modules
Fundamental lab techniques Scientific Data Handling Approaches and techniques Regulation and quality in the applied sciences (External). Cell biology Fundamentals of Chemistry Anatomy and Human Physiology Fundamentals of biochemistry Medical Microbiology.
