Course summary
BA (Hons) Stage & Production Management will prepare you for an exciting career in live experience and entertainment by introducing you to the fundamentals of stage management techniques and applying this knowledge across the breadth of live events. Beginning with an in–depth study of traditional theatre-based stage management techniques, you will then learn how to apply this knowledge across the breadth of the events sector, in areas as diverse as theatre, live music, concert touring, corporate and sporting events. You will examine how the roles of stage and production managers develop from rehearsal to performance and tours and study the ways in which your skills can be transferred to working on multiple events, both in the UK and internationally. Whether you want to work on festivals, theatre, sporting events, fashion shows or award ceremonies, this degree will prepare you for an exciting, diverse range of opportunities. Assessment method
As well as traditional lectures, seminars and tutorials your learning will be enhanced with visits from guest speakers and masterclass seminars from industry experts, international case studies, workshops and more importantly opportunities to work on live projects as part of both practical modules and work placement; giving you unique insights and a thorough understanding of stage management, operating in international markets and in a range of sectors. Assessment is via a range of methods, from developing a portfolio of your work and skills, to practical assessment and research projects.
