Course summary
Studying Animation with us will give you a solid and sound understanding of the concepts of animation. We will actively encourage you to develop your own style and ideas in this reflective and creative industry. Whether you have a keen interest in Animation, or you’re completely new to this fascinating subject, you will develop unique skills, giving you an edge in the industry, allowing you to do what you love in a number of different job roles. For example, you could work on advertising campaigns for large global brands, animate TV programmes and films, or create detailed architectural plans for property developers. You will explore all aspects of animation, learning about stop frame, CGI, 2D and 3D animation. Our highly experience lecturers and guest lecturers will give you insights into the industry, guiding you through the whole production process; and be able to introduce you to leading animators in the industry. What can I do after completing this course? Once you have graduated, you will have a diverse range of skills to start you career with. You will be fully-equipped to enter the creative industry in a number of areas including animation, web design, advertising or illustration. You may decide to begin freelance work, or progress onto MA Animation programmes, or even into teaching.
Modules
During the course you will study a range of topics including: Principles of Animation, traditional hand drawn and 2d animation techniques and skills. Stop Frame Animation, experimentation, pre-production, narrative planning, storyboard, character and set design, film, sound and editing. Introduction to Historical and Contextual and Critical studies Introduction to CGI 3D animation, modelling and rigging. Commercial Project: self-initiated content, animation production and end of year show. Live Action-animation compositing workshop. Professional Development application to industry experience and work. Contemporary Critical Studies. Self-initiated animation project for Final Degree Show Experimental film making and development of animation film language. Dissertation. Professional Development and progression. Final self-initiated project and end of year screening. Character and set design, animation film language, Film making, CGI 3D animation, Professional development, Work experience, Principles of animation.
