Course summary
Data Science is a highly desirable skill across a wide range of industries, from finance and healthcare to marketing and insurance and beyond. This course combines fundamental mathematical/statistical skills and industry-relevant skills including AI and machine learning techniques to support your future career, with an exciting curriculum backed up by world-leading researchers in computer science, mathematics, astrophysics and climate science. There is a very strong emphasis on hands-on learning throughout the course, this helps embed classroom-based learning, but also instils confidence and independence in your technical capabilities. You will have the opportunity to attend a range of research-focused seminars, for example, the Centre for Astrophysics Research weekly astrophysics seminar, the Computer Science colloquium, or the Maths-Physics seminar. The University’s impressive High-Performance Computing facility will also give you an opportunity to get to grips with the latest multiplexed GPU technology - the cornerstone technology for for deep learning applications.
