Course summary

Nurture and manage a workforce effectively with strong business and people management (HR) skills. You'll gain all the expertise you need to become a great people manager. From recruitment and talent management to business strategies, you'll develop a specialist knowledge of HR (People Management). This means applying all of your people management capabilities to help make employees happy, healthy and able to work to the best of their abilities. You'll cover topics like recruitment and talent management, and at the same time gain an understanding of how the business side operates. Work placement and study abroad opportunities There are work placements and study abroad opportunities, and regular guest speakers from industry. We actively encourage you to enhance your CV through real-world projects like the international IBM Business Challenge. You'll graduate work-ready and able to improve organisational productivity, performance and profits by managing people effectively. And whether your ambition is to start your own business or work within an organisation, your skills will be relevant all over the world. Modules

Year 1 core modules (subject to change over time) - ANF101 Introduction to Accounting; BMT103 Managing People & Ideas; BMT106 Introduction to HR; BMT108 Business Economics. You will also be required to select elective/option modules. For detailed module information please check our website.

Assessment method

Assessment varies substantially across modules. Some modules, particularly where there is professional accreditation, have more traditional assessments such as exams. However, where we can, we like to vary the types of assessment. Therefore students can expect to create presentations, videos, posters, reports, research outputs, practical exercises, strategic papers, design processes or products and so on. As the programme has multiple options, students will be able to experience a wide range of assessments.

Applicants should have National 5/GCSE English and Maths/Lifeskills Maths/Application of Maths at grade C/4. Higher Applications of Maths at grade C accepted.
