About this course On this course, you’ll explore practical filmmaking and develop a range of skills to work professionally in the creative industries. Through group and individual projects, you’ll pitch and create films to gain practical production knowledge in the fields of fiction, documentary and artist’s film. You’ll be taught by industry professionals through workshops, lectures, tutorials, production meetings, screenings and reviews. You’ll study film histories, directing actors, studio and location shooting, running a set, production, post-production workflows, lighting and cinematography, sound recording and design. Your final year will culminate in two large-scale film projects which provide material for your graduation portfolio and shape your career as a filmmaker. Future Skills Embedded within every course curriculum and throughout the whole Kingston experience, Future Skills will play a role in shaping you to become a future-proof graduate, providing you with the skills most valued by employers such as problem-solving, digital competency, and adaptability. As you progress through your degree, you'll learn to navigate, explore and apply these graduate skills, learning to demonstrate and articulate to employers how future skills give you the edge. Career opportunities This course prepares you for careers such as a director, independent filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, artist-filmmaker, producer, sound recordist, designer and film programmer.
