Attention is the world's most valuable commodity. We'll show you how to attract people's attention using digital media. You'll learn how to turn that attention into an audience, and how to grow an audience into a community. We'll teach you to understand your role as both consumer and content provider. You'll make, create and leverage all types of media, whether for entertainment, education, advertising, idea-generation or changing the world. You'll study key theoretical aspects of digital marketing, managing media channels, brand value, and project management. You'll get to choose some of your own projects, sometimes in groups, and you'll pitch, propose and plan your assignments, practicing the agile work skills you'll need in this fast-moving industry. Our hands-on approach means you'll learn through doing, interacting with tutors and industry professionals in the classroom, online and through social media tasks. You'll mix day-to-day tactics with strategic planning to understand all roles and tasks within a digital marketing campaign or media launch. And you'll gain invaluable experience and industry contacts through our series of professional work placements. You'll graduate with a strong portfolio of work and professional experience that will showcase your talent to prospective media and marketing employers, preparing you for an exciting career. Placement Opportunities ​We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. We have strong links with key employers in the region and beyond, including the BBC; ITV; independent production companies working in film, television and new media; marketing, PR and advertising agencies; Leeds International Film Festival; and media departments in schools and colleges. Graduate Opportunities You'll graduate ready for a career as a digital media and marketing professional in a wide range of organisations. You'll also be well-qualified for creative media roles, as well as freelance and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Additional fee information

We advise students to budget for the following in addition to annual tuition fees: Recommended and required reading lists will be provided at the start of your course. All the books and e-books are available from our Library to borrow but you may choose to purchase your own. We recommend £390* as an average annual budget for learning resources if you decide this is for you. *This figure is based on the Department of Work and Pensions course costs allowance 2015 Field trips may occur during this course and either fully or partly subsidised by the University. You'll need to include placement/s travel and associated costs too, however the University will contribute a standard amount towards your total expenditure. The University provides students with a £6 printing credit each academic year which can be topped up either on campus or online.
