Attention is the world's most valuable commodity. We'll show you how to attract people's attention using digital media. You'll learn how to turn that attention into an audience, and how to grow an audience into a community. We'll teach you to understand your role as both consumer and content provider. You'll make, create and leverage all types of media, whether for entertainment, education, advertising, idea-generation or changing the world. You'll study key theoretical aspects of digital marketing, managing media channels, brand value, and project management. You'll get to choose some of your own projects, sometimes in groups, and you'll pitch, propose and plan your assignments, practicing the agile work skills you'll need in this fast-moving industry. Our hands-on approach means you'll learn through doing, interacting with tutors and industry professionals in the classroom, online and through social media tasks. You'll mix day-to-day tactics with strategic planning to understand all roles and tasks within a digital marketing campaign or media launch. And you'll gain invaluable experience and industry contacts through our series of professional work placements. You'll graduate with a strong portfolio of work and professional experience that will showcase your talent to prospective media and marketing employers, preparing you for an exciting career. Placement Opportunities We are one of only a few UK universities to build professional work placements into every degree. You'll complete two professional work placements, which will give you the chance to graduate with up to three months' professional work experience without having to take a sandwich year out. We have strong links with key employers in the region and beyond, including the BBC; ITV; independent production companies working in film, television and new media; marketing, PR and advertising agencies; Leeds International Film Festival; and media departments in schools and colleges. Graduate Opportunities You'll graduate ready for a career as a digital media and marketing professional in a wide range of organisations. You'll also be well-qualified for creative media roles, as well as freelance and entrepreneurial opportunities.
