This course, created in collaboration with employers, will give you the opportunity to develop the digital marketing skills needed for a career in media and marketing. During your degree you will use real-life client briefs to explore and apply the latest tools for social and online media creation, data analytics and digital marketing management. You’ll explore the customer experience, including the psychology of online influence and the customer journey as well as online reputation, the meaning of branding and crisis management. You’ll dive deep into data, search engine optimisation and analytics, ensuring you can prove your marketing ideas are working, and study strategy and community management, as well as day-to-day customer communications. You’ll use (at least) the big seven social networking platforms, as well as other online communities, and create all manner of media: audio, video, infographics, memes, copy and websites. We’ll help you to become an independent professional and a team player, understanding the dynamics of ideation, creativity and collaboration. You’ll practice pitching and presenting as part of a team, and you’ll start your own social media channels, growing your own audience and influence online, to evidence your skillset. In your second and third year you can tailor your degree to your own interests and aspirations. You may choose to explore content creation, PR, digital media creation, or study international business and eMarketing – it’s up to you! Professional placements You’ll complete two placements and create real digital marketing campaigns as part of your assessed work. We have strong links with key employers including the BBC, ITV and marketing, PR and advertising agencies. You will build your portfolio, knowledge and the attitude needed to meet the demanding needs of this fast-changing industry. Career opportunities You’ll graduate ready for a career as a digital media and marketing professional in a wide range of organisations. You’ll also be well-qualified for creative media roles, as well as freelance and entrepreneurial opportunities.
