In Landscape Architecture with Urban Design, our focus is on a need to transcend traditional built environment disciplines towards the creation of lively and sustainable urban places. Through guided exploration of personal design and research process, you will explore and unwrap many layers to reveal the unlimited design options that our urban landscapes present. As a compliment to Landscape Architecture, this pathway focuses on urban contexts as social places and looks at ways in which human built-environments can ensure a more sustainable, happy future for all of us. About Foundation courses This four year degree course has been specifically designed to allow students who do not initially meet the entry requirements for a three year degree, to undertake additional level 3 study designed to ensure they are successful on their chosen degree programme. After successful completion of your foundation year, you will have the flexibility to switch (should you wish to change direction) onto a number of related undergraduate courses. Studying a Foundation within Birmingham School of Architecture and Design is about ideas, concepts and creativity integrating various disciplines. This additional year has been designed to give you the skills needed to ensure you’re successful on the BA (Hons) Landscape Architecture with Urban Design course. In this Foundation year you will be working on a multidisciplinary basis with students on different courses from the School, giving you the opportunity to experience a dynamic learning environment that embraces our ethos.

Foundation Studies (Art and Design, and Art, Design & Media): Merit. Considered with a maximum of three other Level 3 qualifications to obtain 96 points. Merit overall in UAL Extended Diploma in Art & Design, UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, UAL Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts.
