This dedicated degree will give you the practical skills and the vital knowledge you need for a career in the hospitality, tourism and event management industry. The course: • is made up of stimulating and thought-provoking modules covering essential business topics • includes advanced modules providing a breadth of knowledge and experience such as creating events, visitor attraction management, sustainable planning & development, contemporary issues in hospitality management and human resource management • through our close relations with the North Wales tourism industry, we are able to arrange exciting guest speakers and on-site visits to some of the key organisations in the fields of hospitality, tourism and events. Students will: • undertake direct, practical experience including real event management • be encouraged to take a work placement that will significantly enhance your CV and employment prospects. • enjoy complimentary student membership of the Institute of Hospitality • All our graduating students will also achieve a level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Leadership & Management from the Chartered Management Institute worth over £1,300 at no extra cost. • Our lecturers have significant professional experience in hospitality, tourism and event management. • Gaining practical experience and developing commercial competence is a key component of this degree. • Students enjoy affiliate membership of the Institute of Hospitality whilst studying. • This degree is accredited by the CMI, all our graduating students will also receive a level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Leadership & Management from the CMI worth over £1,300 at no additional expense. As part of the degree we will provide all of our students with direct, practical experience. It will certainly involve real life event management experience during your studies. However, it could also include the opportunity to take a work placement that will significantly enhance your CV and employment prospects. Assessment method

A range of assessment methods are utilised to reflect the interactive nature of events management and includes selecting and designing promotional material, presentations, interviews, plans and written submissions. TEACHING AND LEARNING Wrexham Glyndŵr University is committed to supporting our students to maximise their academic potential. We offer workshops and support sessions in areas such as academic writing, effective note-making and preparing for assignments. Students can book appointments with academic skills tutors dedicated to helping deal with the practicalities of university work. Our student support section has more information on the help available. Each module on the course should require around 36 hours of direct learning through a combination of lectures and tutorials. An estimated further commitment of 160 independent study hours will be required for each module, although this can vary from student to student.
