Course summary
This is for you if you want a globally recognised qualification in your chosen field while having the freedom and flexibility to explore other areas of law. The International Business and Corporate Law stream of the LLM specialises in the complex issues, rules, and regulations in business transactions and corporate law at national and international levels. The stream covers legal principles related to corporate transactions, activities, governance and finance and practical challenges in the organisation and operation of multinational corporations and cross-border business arrangements. It provides a critical understanding of the policy considerations at the heart of corporate law while developing your ability to analyse, interpret and apply economic, financial, theoretical and socio-legal material to the most pressing contemporary problems in corporate law and practice. You will need to study two compulsory core modules, 6 options from the rich choice of stream-specific modules and undertake a dissertation on a related topic to gain your specialisation. In addition to advancing your knowledge of the intricate mechanics of governance and regulation in the global economy, the course affords you essential transferable skills, stimulates your capacity for independent legal research and strengthens your oral and written communication ability. The LLM International Business and Corporate Law qualification will enhance your career prospects in the corporate world, commercial environment and business regulatory agencies around the world. It provides an outstanding foundation for you to further enhance your career in international law firms and business organisations or to develop academic research expertise within this highly-regarded specialist area. When you apply for this course, you will apply for the Master of Laws (LLM). Once you have arrived in Leicester, you will be able to specialise in International Business and Corporate Law through your module choices. Assessment method
You will be taught mainly through interactive seminars where you will test your understanding by engaging in critical discussion of the topics with your fellow students. Before each seminar you will research the answers to a set of questions and come prepared to discuss your ideas and findings, sometimes working in small groups. Most modules are assessed by a research paper and for many of these you have the opportunity to choose your own research focus. Some modules may be assessed by presentation, examination or reflective log. Over the summer you will be required to complete a 15,000 word dissertation on a subject of your own choice.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Entry requirements
A good second class degree or an equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline. Relevant professional experience post-graduation is given due credit in considering entry requirements. IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with 6.0 in writing and nothing less than 5.5. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability.
