Course summary

Embark on a transformative journey with our new degree, unique to the North Wales region which includes contemporary aspects crucial for the modern-day leader and manager. This course is validated and awarded by Bangor University so you can be assured of a high quality degree. This degree is applied to Health, Wellbeing, and Social Care and would suit those working in or aspiring to professional leadership roles in various sectors, including support, third sector, health and social care, and policy roles or to those seeking to enhance their knowledge or skills. Aligned with local industry needs, this course will provide you with advanced skills to accelerate a successful career in some of the most in-demand sectors in North Wales. This course bridges the gap between work-based professional qualifications and academic excellence. Twenty percent of the learning on this course is work-based learning, which involves a work placement/real working environment of at least 75 hours (at L4 and L5 for the foundation degree). The college offers advice and support concerning placements. The candidate is responsible for securing a placement. Many candidates will be able to apply what they have learned in their workplace without the need for an additional placement. Modules Include: Year 1 (Level 4)**: Fundamentals of Health, Social Care & Wellbeing (20 credits) Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication (20 credits) Introduction to Research and Study Skills (10 credits) Leadership and Management Skills (20 credits)*** Operational Management in Health and Social Care (20 credits)** Professional Development (20 credits) Sustainability in Health and Social Care (10 credits) *For those who have studied and been awarded the City and Guilds Level 5 Leadership and Management of Health and Social Care: Practice, we can RPL all of Level 4 so that you enter the programme directly at Level 5. *For those who have studied and been awarded the City and Guilds Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care, we can RPL Operational Management In Health and Social Care and Leadership and Management Skills, leaving 80 credits remaining for study to achieve Level 4. Year 2 (Level 5): Advanced Research and Learning (20 credits) Delivering Excellence in Health and Social Care (20 credits) Leading the Workforce to Provide Quality Care (20 credits) Professional Development 2 (20 credits) Promoting Resilience and Wellbeing (20 credits) Public Health and Health Promotion (20 credits)

Qualification requirements

GCSE passes at Grade C or above in Mathematics and English/Welsh 1st Language (or Key/Essential Skill equivalent). For applicants without these qualifications, evidence of literacy and numeracy skills at a suitable level to meet the demands of the programme successfully, will need to be demonstrated. Those without academic qualifications are considered on an individual basis in accordance with Grŵp Llandrillo Menai regulations. Language requirements: Welsh/English as mother tongue with equivalent GCSE grade C, or above Direct entry onto Level 5 will be considered for experienced practitioners who have already attained 120 credits at level 4, an NVQ level 4 or equivalent award in an appropriate subject area. This will be an optional progression route for the Level 4 Certificate in Higher Education in Healthcare Practice. In addition, students will need to meet the following criteria: Candidates need to be current practitioners in a relevant field of practice, or be willing to embark on work experience within a relevant field of practice during the course. All students must satisfy the criteria of a minimum of 75 hours work experience/employment hours at both Level 4 and Level 5. All candidates will be required to attend an interview, which will determine their suitability for the course, and will ensure that the requirements of the programme and the commitment required is fully understood. Admission will be considered in light of candidates' previous academic qualifications, their relevant vocational practice and experience, and their suitability in terms of vocational placements and academic study. Candidates must be able to obtain an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance, with no offences, which would preclude practice in the sector.

Important Entry Requirement & Application Update College is still accepting online applications for courses starting in September 2020. Interviews: Interviews are cancelled to help to limit social contact during this time. Instead, you will be invited to a college welcome event to meet the tutors before the start of the course. If you do not meet the entry criteria you will have the opportunity to discuss an alternative programme during this event.
