How to apply

International applicants

Our International Student Support can help you with what you need to do before you arrive and when you get here as a new international student. They offer ongoing support throughout your studies whether that be setting up a bank account or arranging healthcare. Our Global Chums Buddy Scheme and our Intercultural Cafe provide opportunities to meet staff and connect with students. INTO University of Exeter provide pre-sessional English courses for international students as well as free insessional support. For more information about entry requirements, bursaries and scholarships and how to apply please visit our course page.

Entry requirements

For admission to the programme we would normally expect that you hold a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent). While we normally only accept applicants who meet this criteria, if you have a high 2:2 or equivalent, are coming from a different academic background which is equivalent to degree level, or have relevant work experience, we would welcome your application. We welcome applications from students who hold qualifications and degrees that are not in education. These may include degrees and qualifications undertaken in the social sciences, natural sciences, humanities, arts or business studies. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and every application will be considered on a case by case basis. We would encourage applicants to use their personal statement to indicate their interests in education and any relevant work experience. Some modules require Disclosure & Barring Service checks. Accredited Prior Learning (APL) If you have previously studied Higher Education (HE) courses or worked at professional level before embarking on a Masters programme, we recognise that you bring with you some very important skills and knowledge. The Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) process is a way of formally acknowledging this fact, and instead of unnecessarily repeating work, we may grant you exemptions from your programme. For full details, including English language requirements and international equivalencies, please visit our course page.
