TEF Silver
Newcastle College University Centre has opted into the TEF and received a Silver award.
This course focuses on the operation and management skills required for the global hospitality and tourism industry. You will benefit from industry insight via our guest lecture series, as well as real-life work examples from our industry experienced tutors to help you understand the complex, ever-changing and exciting world of hospitality and tourism. You will develop the practical skills required to work in the industry as well as the skills to market and manage a range of hospitality and tourism organisations effectively. You will have the opportunity to complete a work placement which will help build on and support your expertise and future career aspirations. Strong links exist between the University Centre and local hospitality and tourism related organisations, which will give you the opportunity to work within and alongside current industry leaders throughout your degree. Previous graduates of this course have successfully achieved employment with numerous hospitality and tourism providers within the region. On successful completion you may choose to progress onto our one-year BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality Management (Top-Up) degree.

Modules
Year 1: Academic Study Skills, An Introduction to Tourism and Hospitality, Customer Relationship, Destination Management, Developing Manager, Personal Development, Tourism and Hospitality Business Development, Work-Related Learning. Year 2: Course content – year two Commercial Business Performance, Conference and Events, Leadership and Management, Marketing and Social Media, Professional Development, Sustainability in Hospitality and Tourism, Work-Based Learning.
Assessment method
You will learn through a variety of methods including lectures, seminars, practical sessions, workshops and will be introduced to guest speakers from industry. You will also complete a placement. Assessments include written assignments, case-studies, presentations, portfolios, work-based projects and practicals
