Course summary
The course is structured around industry focused assignments and has a mixture of both team-based projects and solo projects with the end goal of creating an exciting and rich portfolio to enable students to show off their skills in professional interviews upon graduation. Students on this course will have the opportunity to pursue either a Game Design or Game Art centric pathway to their studies with the units and roles in group assignments reflecting their choice of pathway throughout their time on the course. The course also offers the opportunity to collaborate with other students across the Creative Media Production department in the University meaning that students can work together with Visual Effects, Motion Graphics and Sound Media students on group projects to simulate an industry focused pipeline. All our creative media workshops come equipped with top of the range industry standard equipment, allowing students to work on PC workstations equipped RTX graphics cards, double monitor setup and a range of other hardware such as VR equipment drawing tablets and 4K televisions so you can follow lectures in crisp and clear detail. The Creative Media department also has access to a state-of-the-art render farm and our own private network meaning downloads are super-fast and software updates are instantaneous meaning you are never behind with the software available to you
Modules
This course includes the following core modules that all students complete: Level 4 Units Individual Project Creative Media Industries Professional Practice 3D Modelling Game Development Practices Games in Context Game Design Art Development Level 5 Units Collaborative Project Personal Professional Development Advanced Game Development Studies Emerging Technologies Environment and Level Design The following modules are options that students can choose from depending on their desired specialism and individual preferences Level 5 Optional Units Advanced 3D Modelling Narrative Mobile Game Development Advanced Rendering and Visualisation Occasional changes to modules and course content may take place. Students will be notified when applicable.
