Whether you are advising a client on setting up a company or dealing with a complex business contract, you will be equipped with a specialist understanding of both business law and the wider commercial world.** Organisations of all sizes need employees with a broad understanding of corporate and other law, as well as people with good corporate awareness, initiative and communication skills. This degree will give you the legal background you need to get ahead in business and by selecting from a list of designated option modules you will undertake a course with a focus on Business Law. Year 1 Core modules: Constitutional and Administrative Law Principles of Law of Contract Law of the European Union Professional Skills and Legal Method Year 2 Core modules: Tort Principles of Criminal Liability Option modules: Choose three from a list which may include: Administration of Justice and Human Rights Commercial Law Evidence Company Law Intellectual Property and Competition Law Taxation Law (Intermediate) Please note that it is a barred combination to take an Honours module if you study the module above Intellectual Property and Competition Law Year 3 Core modules: Principles of Equity and Trusts Principles of Land Law Option modules: Choose four from a list which may include: Employment Law Medical Law and Ethics Family Law Immigration and Asylum Law Intellectual Property and Competition Law Strategic Management Please note that it is a barred combination to take the module above if you have previously studied on the Intermediate module Intellectual Property and Competition Law Please note; Three option modules taken over Years 2 and 3 must be designated business law options.
16.9% of the study time on this course is spent in lectures, seminars, workshops etc. Study and assessments will be based on your choice of modules. Your module specification/course handbook will provide full details of the assessment criteria applying to your course.
