Assessment method

Year 1 (Level 4) assessments focus upon knowledge and skill development through a blend of examinations, essays and reports. Year 2 (Level 5) assessments build upon this by developing optional interests, which can expand the assessments to include presentations, proposals and group work, whilst Year 3 (Level 6) assessments have a prominent focus upon individual projects and self-directed learning activities.

Other vocational qualifications at Level 3 will also be considered, such as NVQs. If you are a mature student (21 or over) and have been out of education for a while or do not have experience or qualifications at Level 3 (equivalent to A Levels), then our Foundation Year courses will help you to develop the skills and knowledge you will need to succeed in your chosen degree. Please note: certain courses may require that you have studied a specific subject at GCE A Level (or acceptable alternatives), e.g. Biology, Maths or Chemistry, or GCSE Maths at grade C.

Additional fee information

All students (except Internationals) on this programme will be eligible for a £500 cash bursary – only at level 3/Foundation Year. The tuition fee for the subsequent years of study on the full-time undergraduate degree will be charged at the undergraduate degree fee level. This fee is currently £9,250 a year for students starting in 2019 but this is subject to annual inflationary rises in line with inflation at that time, as measured by the Retail Price Index.
