Course summary
The course is structured around industry focused assignments and has a mixture of both team-based projects and solo projects with the end goal of creating an exciting and rich portfolio to enable students to show off their skills in professional interviews upon graduation. The course also offers the opportunity to collaborate with other students across the Creative Media Production department in the University meaning that students can work together with students from other disciplines to simulate an industry focused pipeline. All our creative media workshops come equipped with top of the range industry standard equipment, allowing students to work on PC workstations equipped RTX graphics cards, double monitor setup and a range of other hardware such as VR equipment, drawing tablets and 4K televisions so you can follow lectures in crisp and clear detail.
Modules
The Animation Industry Level 4 and 5 Programme at University Campus Doncaster offers an immersive and comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the dynamic field of the animation industry. Level 4 In the initial phase of the program, students will immerse themselves in the fundamental concepts and principles underpinning the animation industry. They will be presented with the opportunity to extensively explore the facets of animation – encompassing 3D animation, 2D animation, and the interplay of animation with storytelling – through introductory modules. This exposure will empower students to make a well-informed choice regarding their preferred realm of specialization for the remainder of the course. Level 4 Concepts & Development (85 Credits): Introduction to 3D Animation; Storytelling and Narrative in Animation:; Fundamentals of Video Editing; Introduction to 2D Animation; Animation Industry Insights; History of Animation. Creative Project (35 Credits): Level 5 Personal Advancement in Animation (45 Credits): Advanced 3D Animation Techniques:; Mastery in 2D Animation; Narrative Animation Proficiency. Professional Project (75 Credits) By the end of the Level 5 program, students will have produced a final animation piece that showcases their collaborative efforts and creative talents. The project will represent a polished experience, demonstrating the team’s ability to create an engaging and well-designed piece of work. The project will also serve as a portfolio piece for each student, highlighting their individual contributions to the project. Occasional changes to modules and course content may take place. Students will be notified when applicable.
