Course summary

Learn how to improve the lives of those in need. You'll prepare for a challenging but rewarding career in the health and social care professions.. As part of this course, you’ll:

  • Explore a wide range of theories within psychology, mental health, counselling, child development and psychotherapy
  • Combine theoretical knowledge with your ability to build effective therapeutic relationships
  • Study a variety of therapeutic approaches
  • Explore psychotherapeutic models including cognitive and behavioural development and look at theories on how mental health issues develop across the lifespan
  • Learn how to develop your interpersonal skills in order to build supportive, empathetic relationships between you and your clients
This course will open employment opportunities across a range of roles. However, if you wish to focus on becoming a Counsellor, after graduating you'll be eligible to apply for postgraduate professionally accredited counselling course to fulfil the next step of your training.
