Course summary

A two-year Foundation Degree influenced by, and a product of, the emerging practices and technologies of the Digital Design & Arts Industries. In Partnership with Falmouth University, this multi-disciplined course fosters collaboration and experimentation, fusing traditional and digital media to shape new forms of communication. The course is designed to enable you to acquire new and emerging digital media skills. You will be based in a collaborative digital media studio; a place to share and formulate emerging ideas and application of traditional and future technologies. Highly motivated staff, with a passion to support innovative learning, will encourage risk taking and experimentation at all stages of the creative process, and support the application of skills to new and emerging markets and contexts. Modules

Our studio culture means that students are well supported both academically and pastorally. There is a clarity around expectations and assessments and our supportive staff nurture each individual student's talent. Year One: A year in which you build the foundations for an increasingly independent approach at Level 5, Year 2. Through practical and critical enquiry you will be supported by lecturers, visiting professional and peers to experiment and evolve your practice. You will be encouraged to explore and test a broad range of new media in our inclusive studio environment in which we grow skills and confidence together, embrace new challenges and deliver innovative solutions independently or in partnership with a client. Modules Foundations Place Collaboration Grow Year Two: You will explore more challenging projects which allow a more sustained and deep engagement with the process and context of the subject. An increasingly industry facing experience supported by the team of lecturers and visiting professionals begin to be introduced to more professional, societal and external contexts. You will develop high quality work for your portfolio, define the subject from your own perspective and prepare for the next steps following graduation into employment or to our top-up year to BA(Hons) Digital Media.
