This is a level 6 Top Up programme designed in consultation with industry to provide a highly relevant and academically challenging programme of study. The course provides an exemplary experience of laboratory work and entry into a career in science. If you are interested in the field of science you will gain further knowledge in addition to employability skills and industry knowledge needed to succeed in your career. This is a level 6 Top Up programme (final year of degree) designed in consultation with industry to provide a highly relevant and academically challenging programme of study It leads to a full BSc (Hons) degree with the full range of classifications. You will develop skills and knowledge about analytical chemistry, organic chemical synthesis and how new drugs and medical treatments are developed including those used in gene therapy. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop your own specialist research project to produce an undergraduate thesis (dissertation). The course provides an exemplary experience of laboratory work and entry into a career in science. If you are interested in the field of science you will gain further knowledge in addition to employability skills and industry knowledge needed to succeed in your career. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science encompasses a wide range of laboratory procedures for preparation and analysis of chemical substances for human purposes. It includes research and development in the laboratory exploring, purifying and synthesizing high quality products from nature and other sources. Examples include the manufacture of drugs, materials and medicinal products or large scale synthesis in industry The programme offers informed teaching in small groups by highly qualified and experienced teachers in addition to excellent support. The programme has been developed with direct input from local employers who also have a global presence and represents an excellent opportunity for those interested in working in science and to those who already work in the science industry who wish to develop their careers by gaining a fit for purpose qualification whilst still working or honouring other commitments. The course provides a strong foundation in biology and chemistry with specialisation in current areas of importance to a broad range of employers and research interests.
