Course summary

This Higher National Diploma (HND) programme is delivered through 8 industry relevant units, and placement/work practice. This course will offer you the chance to gain up to date subject knowledge and higher technical practical skills. This qualification is widely recognised by industry and higher education meaning it can provide clear progression to employment or for further study through to Level 5 and then a full degree at Level 6. There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. This National qualification in Healthcare Profession’s Support for England has been designed to reflect the increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways and is mapped to the Assistant Practioner in Health apprenticeship standard. Therefore, this programme is recognised as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ).

Modules

The programme includes the core mandatory modules listed below for the 1st year. 1: Law, Policy and Ethical Practice 2: Demonstrating Professional Principles and Values in Health and Social Care Practice 3: Supporting the Individual Journey through Integrated Health and Social Care 4: Fundamentals of Evidence-based Practice 5: Principles of Health Education 6: Effective Healthcare Practice Using Maths 7: Applied Anatomy and Physiology The programme includes the core mandatory modules listed below for the 2nd year: 8: Innovation and Improvement through Participatory Action Research 9: Reflective Approaches in Implementing Person-centred Practice 10: Planning Care in Practice 11: Meeting the Needs of Individuals with Long term Health Conditions 12: Team and Individual Leadership: Mentoring and Coaching Others 13: End of Life Care Planning and Support Including one other optional unit to be confirmed upon student consultation.
