Course summary

What is Screenwriting MA? Learn the art and craft of writing for the screen, develop your portfolio and get yourself industry ready. This distance learning programme is designed to offer flexible study options, an online screenwriting community and access to industry experienced mentors. There will be a focus on developing new voices and all storytelling traditions will be embraced. We’ll help you to develop screenwriting skills that will take you from concept to screenplay and to produce a professional portfolio to take out to the marketplace. Study style This is a distance learning programme that will be delivered through online seminars and tutorials and some recorded material. It can be studied full time over one year or part time over two years. Individual supervisions will be flexible to your needs and can be arranged to fit time zones if you’re studying from outside the UK. you’ll work individually and in development teams but all assessments are individual. Where appropriate, you may be introduced to undergraduate film students, as a potential collaboration opportunity for production of final scripts. As well as feedback from tutors, there will be talks and workshops with a diverse range of script mentors who are working in the film and TV industry.


Entry requirements

At least a 2.2 honours degree equivalent in this subject area. Or a relevant level 6 qualification. EU and international students need IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in any other component) or equivalent. Relevant work experience will also be taken into consideration.
