Course summary

Cyber security is critically important to commercial and academic organisations, as well as to governments and their citizens. On this one-year MSc you'll gain a well-rounded, multidisciplinary view of the subject area, embracing not only the technical subjects, but also aspects of criminology, risk management, law and social sciences. The programme has National Cyber Security Centre certification and we are recognised as an Academic Centre of Excellence in both Cyber Security Education and Cyber Security Research by the UK government.

Modules

Compulsory modules include: Cryptography; Foundations of Cyber Security; Network and Web Based Security; Research Methods and Project Preparation; Security of Cyber Physical Systems; Software Security; MSc Research Project and Dissertation. Optional modules include: Criminal Behaviour - Applied Perspectives; Cyber Crim, Insecurity and the Dark Web; Digital Forensics; Software Project Management and Security Development.

How to apply

International applicants

English language: Band C, IELTS 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in all components.

Entry requirements

You’ll need an upper 2:1 degree (with a mark of 65% or above) in computer science or a closely related subject. You must also have an upper 2:1 score in the following modules: a programming language; a computer networks module; a computer science module, such as: cryptography, software, data structures, databases, machine learning, web, networks.
