Course summary
This is a performance-based course which provides an opportunity for students to gain a Foundation Degree in Acting Performance. It is primarily designed for those people who intend to work in the industry and there are clear links between the development of high level skills relating to performance arts, in-depth understanding of the performing arts industry and personal development of the individual, all of which are integrated into our course. This is a highly practical course. Performance projects include devised work, theatre in the community and text based performances. Students are encouraged to develop personal strategies to enhance their employability. As well as generic transferable skills, they also include activities of particular relevance to aspiring actors such as making contacts with agents and casting directors, developing acting CV's and creating show and voice reels. Although the Foundation Degree is a stand-alone qualification, most students who successfully complete it progress to our one-year BA (Hons) Acting Performance (Top-up) which further broadens the range of eventual career opportunities.
