Course summary

Civil Engineers help to create the structures and systems that sustain society. They are responsible for designing, building, maintaining and improving bridges, roads, canals, docks, office buildings, hospitals, schools, airports, power stations, railways, flood defences, water-treatment facilities. Completion of this course may lead to membership of professional institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers. You'll study through a mix of lectures, scientific experiments and practical work-based training, to gain specialist knowledge in a wide range of areas from site surveying to structural analysis and design to geotechnics. This course is rooted in real-world practice, where you will interpret civil engineering problems, design and construct solutions and put them to the test!

The course includes the following subjects: Level 4 Engineering Mathematics Structural Analysis and Design 1 Materials ICT and Design Civil Engineering Construction Construction and Civil Engineering Management Level 5 Strength of Materials Site Surveying Structural Analysis and Design Geo-technics Project Hydraulics

Assessment method

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework, in-class assessments, presentations and examinations.
