Course summary
University Centre Reaseheath remains committed to providing a highly responsive curriculum that is employment and future-focused and will enable students to develop the essential knowledge and skills that will prepare them for future success in work and life. This programme is distinctive in its design as it offers an insight into a broad range of equine management disciplines, rather than focusing on one specialist area. The programme design makes it ideal for Level 3 learners, or experienced individuals, looking to enhance their knowledge and understanding of a range of roles and opportunities that exist within the equine industry progressing into employment. The HND is aimed at the development of individuals, providing a grounding in industry knowledge accompanied by the acquisition of essential softer skills, including leadership and management, which will act as valuable stepping stone onto a Bachelor’s degree programme or into employment across the equine and/or animal science sector. The Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Animal Management (Equine Management) offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of some sector-specific skills and experience through the specialist units. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace activities offering a comprehensive blended learning approach. The Higher National Diploma is delivered over two years, during year one the learners will study a range of units at Level 4 and build on their knowledge in year two, completing a further range of Level 5 units.
