Course summary
Please note: the Integrated International Foundation year of this course will be taught at our UCA Farnham Campus. You would then transfer to our UCA Canterbury campus for the remaining four years of the course BA (Hons) Fine Art (with International Foundation Year and Professional Practice Year) is a five year degree programme, specifically designed to provide international students with the English language and creative skills before they embark on year one of a degree. Your fourth academic year would then include a year in industry placement. Our BA (Hons) Fine Art degree course at UCA Canterbury will support you to build on your creative passions, gain new skills, experiment, and fine-tune your work, interests and thinking. We want you to work with curiosity, develop ideas and themes, and consolidate your practice. With the support of our staff, you’ll experiment with a range of traditional and contemporary media, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, film, sound, performance, animation and printmaking. You’ll also develop a deep theoretical and critical understanding of Fine Art, and learn business and self-promotion skills. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet other students, make friends and build a professional network that will give you a strong foundation on which to build your career. We require evidence of your English language ability to meet the requirements for your course. If you're a Home student and studied in the UK, we require GCSE English at a minimum grade C/4 (or Functional Skills English/Key Skills Communication Level 2). If you’re an EU student and studied a European qualification, we may accept the English Language score from your main qualification - please review your country from the list on our website to see whether we will accept it: https://www.uca.ac.uk/international-study/equivalent-qualifications/ If your qualification is not on this list, we accept the following English language qualifications: IELTS (overall score 6.0), TOEFL ibt (overall score 88), PEARSON PTE Academic (overall 55), Cambridge Proficiency Exam (overall score 169), Cambridge Advanced Exam (overall score 169). If you need a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you will need to take an IELTS test, and achieve an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum score of 5.5 for each element (Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing).
