Combining Law with Business in a Qualifying Law Degree is a natural marriage because practising lawyers are business people in their own right and also spend much of their working lives advising individual and corporate business clients. The globalisation of business and the increased regulation which has followed has led to increased opportunities for lawyers with knowledge of the rules that apply to corporate governance and human resource management. A range of Business Studies is undertaken in conjunction with the compulsory modules in Law. Bangor University is recognised as a qualifying law degree provider by the Bar Standards Board and this degree is accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Placement Year provides you with a fantastic opportunity to broaden your horizons and develop valuable skills and contacts through working in field relevant to your chosen degree subject. The Placement Year is taken between years 2 and 3 of your degree and students are away for the whole of the academic year. The minimum period in placement (at one or more locations) is seven calendar months; more usually you would spend 10-12 months with a placement provider. Placements can be UK-based or overseas and you will work with staff to plan and finalise the placement arrangements. You would normally start sometime in the period June to September of your second year and finish between June and September the following year. You will be supported throughout the placement period by a dedicated member of staff within your academic school.
