The BSc (Hons) Finance degree is delivered by Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), one of Europe’s leading business schools. On this course you will gain a broad understanding of the underlying mechanisms of finance that will help equip you with the skills to work in a highly-regulated environment. You will also sharpen your understanding of the disciplines involved, from corporate finance to asset pricing, international finance to corporate governance. Equally you will have the opportunity to choose from a range of elective modules, allowing you to create a bespoke degree that matches your own interests. You will be taught by world-leading academics who are at the forefront of research in finance, as well as finance professionals who practice at the highest levels of the industry in London and globally. Graduates from BSc (Hons) Finance are well suited to many roles. As practitioners of company valuation techniques for example, they are valuable in equity research departments and to fund managers. Given their knowledge of the theory and practice of corporate risk management techniques, they are also well suited to roles in corporate treasury departments. Likewise their ability to analyse corporate reorganisations, such as mergers and acquisitions, make them ideal candidates for roles in corporate finance advisory teams in investment banks. All Bayes undergraduate students will also choose from a range of professional experience modules so that when you graduate you are equipped with the knowledge and experience to make you an attractive candidate to employers. You will also take a career-focused module suitable for your chosen course to help you prepare for entering the job market. A key part of this degree is the opportunity to gain professional work experience or a period of study abroad. Students are eligible to apply for a one-year paid work placement which takes places during the third year of a four-year sandwich degree course. Our students enjoy a wide range of opportunities in business areas such as corporate finance, operations, sales and trading, prime brokerage and hedge funds. Students can also apply to spend a term (or one year) studying abroad at a range of prestigious partner universities including the University of Virginia and Bocconi University, Italy. Studying abroad enables students to expand their international network of contacts, to develop a wider perspective in the world of global finance and to enhance their career prospects. The BSc (Hons) Finance degree is taught alongside the BSc (Hons) Banking and International Finance and BSc (Hons) Investment and Financial Risk Management. Assessment method

You will be assessed using a variety of methods, depending on module choices including:

  • Coursework
  • Unseen written examinations, taking place at the end of each term (or at the end of a year, if a module is taught over two terms)
  • Class tests
  • Online quizzes and tests, using the Virtual Learning Environment
  • Presentation
  • Group projects, individual projects.
Percentage of the course assessed by coursework The balance of assessment by examination, practical examination and assessment by coursework will to some extent depend on the optional modules you choose. The approximate percentage of the course assessment, is as follows: Year 1 70% written, 0% practical, 30% coursework Year 2 74% written, 0% practical, 26% coursework Year 3 53% written, 4% practical, 43% coursework.

As a global institution, Bayes Business School aims to foster greater racial diversity in business. Therefore Bayes has launched a new scholarship for undergraduate black British students. We are offering ten scholarships for Black UK-domiciled undergraduate students from lower than average income households. Each scholarship covers the full tuition fee (at home-fee level) and a £6,000 annual stipend for three years. Scholarship holders will also be offered mentoring and support. The Bayes International Scholarship is awarded to students who achieve exceptional grades. The scholarship will be awarded as a discount in the fee amount due in the first year of their study only.
