Course summary
You’ll aspire to further your knowledge in the Montessori pedagogy and lead the way in the first ever Montessori Masters degree in the UK. You’ll advance your knowledge of young children’s learning and develop your early years Montessori practice and professionalism. Through the exploration of areas of Montessori in early childhood education and care you’ll enhance your research skills and be one of the first Montessorians to hold a Montessori Masters degree. You’ll be supported by academics who are also qualified Montessori practitioners offering you a knowledgeable and reflective teaching team. Deepen your knowledge of the three elements of the Montessori triangle: the child; the environment and the teacher. You’ll explore and analyse theories of cosmic education, social justice and the child as an agent for change. We’ll give you opportunity to flourish as an active learner, prepared to lead practice and learning at a Masters level. You’ll be assessed via coursework only. This will take the form of patchwork text, presentations, a reflective journal, research workbook and written reports.

Assessment method
We use a range of assessment methods to demonstrate your developing knowledge and theoretical understanding. Assessments will also expand the skills you’ll need in practice to best support young children and their families. And you’ll be able to show how you’ve developed specialist knowledge in your chosen area of expertise to support your own career success and that of others in our field. Instead of sitting exams, you’ll benefit from preparing high quality written assignments. These build up throughout each module, with opportunities for peer and tutor feedback as you learn.
Entry requirements
Normally applicants should have a first degree with honours at a minimum classification of 2:2 or equivalent. Exceptional entry is offered to professionals with extensive professional experience. Arrangements also exist to incorporate Accredited Prior Learning (APL). If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
